Professor Graeme Betts, the Chair of the board of Care Plus, has been recognised in the Queen’s New Year Honours. He has been awarded a CBE for services to adult social care. 

Professor Betts has held a number of senior roles across local government and the NHS and is currently the corporate director for adult social care at Birmingham City Council. He joined the board of Care Plus following our merger with Stafford and Rural Homes and is also a member of the Housing Plus Group board. 

“Graeme’s experience and knowledge of adult social care are making an invaluable contribution to the expansion of Care Plus,” said chief executive Sarah Boden. “He is helping us to meet the commitment we made on our merger, to provide more access to affordable care, supported housing and wellbeing services for people who need support to live happily, well and independently.  

“I am delighted that his tireless commitment to adult social care and to helping vulnerable people is being recognised with this honour. Everyone in Care Plus and Housing Plus Group congratulates Graeme on his CBE.” 

Graeme Betts has written extensively about health and social care and served as care and health improvement advisor for the Local Government Association. In 2013 he was awarded an Honorary Professorship from the University of East London in recognition of his outstanding contributions to his profession and to the development of public policy.  

“I am very proud to have been recognised in the Queen’s New Year Honours List. However, I am indebted to the support I have received from my family over many years which has allowed me to dedicate myself to improving adult social care. Also, I see my award as recognition of the contribution adult social care makes to improving the quality of life of adults and older people,” he said.
