Another standout year for Severn Homes

Commercial director Peter Donovan shares Severn Homes’ success stories.

It has been another stand out year as we continue to offer more choice for home ownership in Staffordshire and Shropshire. This helps to maximise return on the Group's investments by providing sustainable commercial returns and ensuring we have satisfied customers.

We operate as a commercial company within the Group, providing homes for outright sale and the brand is used to market our quality and affordable shared ownership and market rent properties

It enables us to respond to housing need and aspiration of our customers, supporting them to enter the housing for sale market with the option of help to buy or by means of a shared ownership property and if people wish to rent we also provided a quality market rental option backed up by a high performing maintenance service.

We currently have exciting new development sites under construction throughout the area which will provide more properties for us to sell outright or through shared ownership and we are adding more market rental properties to our current portfolio of over 120 homes across the region.

Among 2017-18 successes are the sales at one of our flagship development Curlew Meadows in Baschurch, where Severn Homes sold 26 homes and market rented 4 homes. In addition, we marketed 46 homes for shared ownership and a further 14 homes for market rent across Shropshire and Staffordshire.

River View

In Staffordshire, the building of the award-winning River View was completed and we’re marketing the final 6 of the 41 contemporary apartments through shared ownership. It is an outstanding location overlooking meadows alongside the River Penk.

Other stand out developments that we’re now marketing include new shared ownership opportunities in Codsall, Rodington and Tibberton. Demand is so high, we’re selling via direct enquiries from the Severn Homes website and selling off plan, meaning that people are moving into their new homes within a matter of a few days after the homes are completed. With this in mind, watch how we surprised new homeowners Adam and Hayley as they moved into their new home.

Over the next year, we plan to extend our market rent portfolio, which currently stretches across the two counties and achieve further build for sale opportunities. A further 44 shared ownership will be completed by 31 March 2019.

As new housing supply continues to fall behind new household growth across the country, revenue received from the sale of homes, along with the income from the market rent properties, helps to subsidise the provision of more affordable housing.
